Things to do in and around Toledo, Oregon

  • Visit the Yaquina Pacific Railroad Museum

Explore the incredible railroad engines and cars from a bygone era that have been restored and preserved by the Yaquina Pacific Railroad Historical Society, including the The Baldwin steam engine, known locally as “One Spot,” and the enormous 45-ton switcher engine, called “Lokey” by local mill workers.

  • Explore the Old Wooden Boats

Toledo has a rich history of wooden boat manufacturing, which lives on today in its artisan shipbuilders and with the Wooden Boat Show. You can see many of these boats by walking the waterfront and the harbor, and is a great way to take a step back in time.

  • Experience the Yaquina River Museum of Art

The dramatic landscape, wildlife, and people of the Oregon Coast have long provided artistic inspiration and can be seen in everything from the intricate carvings of the First Nations to modern cinema in films like Dune, and the Yaquina River Museum of Art preserves and celebrates those artists and their work.

  • kayaking the yaquina river toledo

    Kayak the Yaquina River

For 59 beautiful miles the Yaquina River winds through and out of the dense, verdant, Coast Ranges, providing habitat for an array of wildlife from mountain lions to steelhead to oysters. The best way to experience the river and estuary is by kayak, preferably in the early morning, and fortunately the City and Port of Toledo have created many convenient put-ins, including Paddle Park just minutes from the event.

  • Business Upstairs, Party Down Below at Timbers

With a classic 1950’s diner upstairs, and a salty, working class dive bar downstairs, Timbers Restaurant and Lounge is a cornerstone of the Toledo community. Quite literally across the street from the event it’s the perfect place to grab a beer with friends after a long day at the mill.
